Founded in the memory of Carmine F. Scarpa Sr.
Purpose Statement
The NABI Foundation is committed to using the sport of basketball to
encourage Native American youth to further their education by granting
scholarships, create opportunities for college scholarships and to fund
college mentor programs to support them through their journey.
Vision
To raise a generation of leaders by providing the spark that ignites
Native American youth to set their sights higher, make the most of their
potential and reach their dreams through sports and education.
Mission
Create, encourage and support Native American athletes and sports programs.
Provide college scholarships & opportunities to Native American
students.
Provide funding for mentoring programs that encourage & support
Native American college students
NABI is not just about showcasing talented Native American basketball
players. NABI is about being part of their future. To build an on going
relationship that encourages and supports native youth and their dreams.

Who
Can Apply (effective Jan 1, 2008)
Educational Institutions: ONLY For Native American
Scholarship or Mentor programs. With preference towards institutions
NABI athletes are attending. Grants can not exceed $5000 per year
Personal Requests: ONLY NABI athletes are eligible.
Grants request cannot exceed $1000 per year.
How to apply & guidelines
All requests need to be received in writing to include proof of college
enrollment for the semester you are attending, copy of tribal membership
and contact information for the financial aid dept. of the college and/or
university attending. NABI athletes must include year they participated,
team and coach’s name. Educational Institutions must send copy
scholarship and/or mentor program, guidelines, budget and current donors.
No faxes and/or emails will be accepted. Deadline for spring semester
is November 1st and fall semester is June 1st. Applicants will be notified
via USPS and/or email if one is provided. All scholarships and grants
will be made out directly to college and/or university.

Purpose Statement
The Scholarship and Grant Committee is responsible for selection process
and the awarding of NABI Foundation scholarships and grants. *For ethical
and accountability purposes, if an applicant has a tribal affiliation
with any committee member that member will be exempt from the selection
process of that individual’s application.
